Meet the filmmakers

Sam Smartt is an MFA candidate at the Documentary Film Institute at Wake Forest University. He also completed his undergraduate work at Wake Forest, earning a Bachelor of Arts in History, as well as minors in both Film Studies and Music. He is a freelance editor and videographer, and has produced both promotional and educational videos, as well as a short student documentary, which screened at student film festivals in Wilmington and Winston-Salem. He has recently finished his first feature documentary, Any Given Friday, which premiered at Cucalorus Film Festival in November, 2010.


Christopher Zaluski is entering the world of documentary film from the world of digital media. Most recently, Zaluski worked for The Roanoke (Va.) Times as a multimedia producer where he shot and edited videos, designed web and interactive graphics and reported on local news. He has also spent time working at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and the Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Fla. He completed his undergrad work at Appalachian State University in electronic media and journalism, and he is currently earning his MFA in documentary film from Wake Forest University.
